Unlike top-loading tankers where the liquid is loaded from the top of the tank, bottom loading tankers are loaded from the bottom. The bottom loading process involves connecting the tanker truck or trailer to a loading terminal, typically at a petroleum terminal or a bulk storage facility, through a bottom-loading arm or hose. The liquid product is then pumped into the tanker from the bottom of the tank, filling it from the bottom up. This is in contrast to top-loading tankers where the liquid is loaded from the top of the tank, often through a manhole or hatch.
